World Athletics 2013: Chris O'Hare races into 1500m Worlds final

Scotland's Chris O'Hare qualified for the 1500m final at the World Athletics Championships in Moscow.

The 22-year-old from Edinburgh produced a strong run to finish fourth in his semi-final with a time of 3:43.58.

O'Hare struggled in his heat but looked much more comfortable this time and held off his rivals with a determined final 200m.

However, fellow Scot Laura Muir failed to progress, finishing seventh in her 800m semi-final.

"The atmosphere in here is a little crazy," said veterinary medicine student Muir after the race.

"I ran my best today and was only a few hundreds out of my PB [personal best]. The Commonwealth Games in Glasgow will be amazing - I'm so looking forward to it. But I'm so, so glad I got the opportunity to compete here."

O'Hare will also be relishing the prospect of performing in front of a home crowd in Glasgow next year and kept a cool head to see off several experienced runners in Moscow.

"Very different tactics today," O'Hare told BBC Sport.

"I knew that with 400m to go all the big names would come pinging round the outside. If I could sit on the rail and do a Hannah England it would open up for me. And I had that finish today.

"My mentality for most things is just to blag it - I've got the utmost faith in myself, my family, my girlfriend and my team to keep me level-headed."
