Christine Ohuruogu in GB's first World Relay squad

British Athletics has named a 24-strong team as they look to hone their skills at the inaugural World Relay Championships in Nassau, Bahamas.

World Indoor 60m gold medallist Richard Kilty and world 400m champion Christine Ohuruogu are among those who will compete on 24 and 25 May.

The top eight men's and women's 4x100m and 4x400m teams will qualify for the 2015 World Championships in Beijing.

GB's 4x100m men have been disqualified at the last five major championships.

The 4x100m women won bronze at last year's World Championships in Moscow, Britain's first medal in that event since the inaugural World Championships in 1983, and it came just a year after they failed to qualify a team for the London Olympics.

The women's 4x400m relay team also won bronze in Moscow, with the men finishing fourth in their final.

British Athletics performance director, Neil Black, said: "These championships provide a vital opportunity to prepare teams capable of winning medals at this year's European Championships and future senior major championships."

He added: "The team selected is a blend of experience and youth and one that I am sure will rise to the occasion of this unique format."

James Dasaolu and Adam Gemili are not on the team.

Dasaolu, the second fastest Briton in history, is building his fitness after the hamstring injury which ruled him out of the World Indoor Championships and Gemili has university exams.

Men's 4x100m: Harry Aikines-Aryeetey, Dwain Chambers, James Ellington, Richard Kilty, Andrew Robertson, Danny Talbot.

Women's 4x100m: Desiree Henry, Hayley Jones, Anyika Onuora, Asha Philip, Bianca Williams, Jodie Williams.

Men's 4x400m: Dan Awde, Michael Bingham, Jamie Bowie, Nigel Levine, Martyn Rooney, Conrad Williams.

Women's 4x400m: Margaret Adeoye, Eilidh Child, Shana Cox, Emily Diamond, Christine Ohuruogu, Victoria Ohuruogu.
