Olympic champion David Rudisha is to compete at Glasgow's Diamond League meeting on 11-12 July.

The 25-year-old Kenyan will be making his first appearance in the UK since breaking the 800m world record and winning gold at London 2012.

Sprinters Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce and Carmelita Jeter also plan to run at Hampden Park.

Jamaica's Fraser-Pryce, who is the world and Olympic world 100m champion, is currently troubled by a leg injury.

And the 27-year-old could miss the Commonwealth Games, also in Glasgow (23 July - 3 August), if she does not recover in time for next week's national trials.

Jeter is the second fastest woman of all time over 100m and the 34-year-old American collected three medals at London 2012.

Rudisha continued his comeback from injury with victory in the 800m at the New York Diamond League this month.

"My victory in New York has given me a lot of confidence and something which I will take with me to Hampden Park," he said.

"The Glasgow Grand Prix will give me the best possible preparation for the Commonwealth Games. I know the field will include not only the best athletes in the Commonwealth, but the world too."

Olympic and world decathlon champion Ashton Eaton will run in the 400m hurdles, having won the event at the Oslo Diamond League.

He joins English Olympic champions Mo Farah, Christine Ohuruogu and Greg Rutherford, while other star names already confirmed for the Glasgow event include Felix Sanchez, Sally Pearson, Anna Chicherova, Blanka Vlasic, Dayron Robles, Aries Merritt and Andreas Thorkildsen.

Scottish runners Eilidh Child, Lynsey Sharp, Chris O'Hare and Laura Muir will also be competing as they warm-up for the Commonwealth Games.
