Dai Greene: Hurdler wins on comeback in Hungary

Greene has endured a miserable time since finishing fourth at the London Olympics

Commonwealth Games 400m hurdles champion Dai Greene has won on his return to competition after three hernia operations last year.

The 28-year-old beat world champion Jehue Gordon into second place at the Gyulai Memorial Meeting in Hungary.

Both athletes clocked 49.89 seconds but the Welshman was given the win over his Trinidad and Tobago rival.

The former world champion is aiming to prove his fitness ahead of the defence of his Commonwealth title.

His time was short of the 49.80 qualifying time needed for him to be eligible for selection for the Great Britain team for the European Championships in Zurich in August.

It was also was just over two seconds slower than his personal best of 47.84.
