Britain's Stephanie Twell won the bronze medal in the 5,000m at the European Championships in Amsterdam.

The 26-year-old clocked 15 minutes 20.70 seconds to finish narrowly behind Sweden's Meraf Bahta, with Turkey's Yasemin Can taking gold.

Laura Whittle and Eilish McColgan were fifth and sixth respectively.

There was also bronze for Julian Reid in the triple jump, the 27 year-old's first leap of 16.76m enough for his first senior international medal.

German Max Heb won gold with 17.20m, four centimetres ahead of Poland's Karol Hoffmann.

Reid is the fourth Briton to win a triple jump medal at the European Championships after Keith Connor, Jonathan Edwards and Phillips Idowu.
