Josh Kerr and Jake Wightman will go to the Tokyo Olympics after taking the top two positions in the men's 1500m final at the British Championships.

Kerr finished in 3:40.72 - 0.05 seconds ahead of fellow Scot Wightman.

Nicole Yeargin is also going to Japan after finishing second behind Jodie Williams in the women's 400m final, but compatriot Zoey Clark missed out.

Andrew Butchart's silver behind Patrick Dever in the 5000m also secured his place in the British team.

Laura Muir and Jemma Reekie have progressed to Sunday's women's 800m final by winning their heats.

Four-time European indoor champion Muir had previously reached the Olympic qualifying standard and won in 2:05.41 in Manchester.

Reekie was almost four seconds faster at 2:01.46.

The championships doubles as Olympic trials and Muir and Reekie's final will take place at 14:50 BST on Sunday.

Athletes need to finish in the top two and achieve qualifying standard to make Team GB's Tokyo squad.

Eilish McColgan has already qualified for the 10,000m at the Olympics and competes in Sunday's 5,000m final.

Nick Percy finished second behind Lawrence Okyo, who already had the Olympic qualifying standard, in his attempt to defend the British discus title and fell short of a throw worthy of Tokyo selection.
