Jersey's Zara Asante has won triple jump gold at the 2025 Island Games.

Asante jumped 11.61m to take the title from Isle of Man's Georgia Price, who earned the silver medal with 11.53.

Vicky Hancock won bronze with a leap of 11.47m to break the Guernsey record that has stood for 20 years.

It was 5cm further than Kimberley Goodall's previous best, set in August 2005.

"I'm completely shocked," Hancock told BBC Radio Guernsey.

"Triple isn't my first event and I got fourth in the last games, so I was thinking maybe the same again and I was aiming for personal bests, which I did.

"I'm really happy."

Asante's gold medal was the third won by Jersey on the opening day of competition in Orkney.

Tom Atkinson won gold in the men's triathlon with his effort also helping the island's men secure team gold in the event.
