Wales' David Jack Wilson claimed his first major international medal when winning bronze at the European Para Badminton Championships in Turkey.

The 30-year-old reached the semi-finals in Istanbul after a determined run through the tournament, defeating France's Abdoullah Ait Bella in a hard-fought quarter-final.

That set up a meeting with the top seed Meril Loquette, a familiar opponent from the international circuit.

Despite a spirited performance, Wilson was unable to overcome the Frenchman but did secure a bronze medal.
