This game is the last in a three-match series that is balanced at 1-1 after the Tigers secured a 6-4 victory in an extra inning last night.

The Orioles can confirm a post-season place today if they win and the Seattle Mariners lose at home to the Texas Rangers.

The Tigers have dropped out of the Wild Card but are only half a game behind the Minnesota Twins and could sneak back in with a win at Camden Yards.

The teams meet for the sixth time this season with the Tigers ahead 3-2 in wins after defeating the Orioles 2-1 in a series in Detroit earlier this month.

They have met just once in the post-season, in the second round of the 2014 play-offs, with the Orioles winning 3-0.

TheTigers have won the World Series four times in their history, most recently in 2012. TheOrioles have won three titles but have had to wait more than 40 years for one with their last coming in 1983.

  4. "Motor City" and Motownpublished at 10:53 British Summer Time 20 September

    BBC Sport

Detroit is mostly famous for two things – music and cars.

It is where Henry Ford built his first car in the city in 1896, soon establishing the Ford Motor Company and devising the assembly line to “put the world on wheels”. It sparked a boom in car-making that gave Detroit its title of “Motor City”.

Berry Gordy Jr. then took inspiration from the industry when he started a record label, calling it Motown (from “motor” and “town”). The music that followed in the second half of the century had a profound impact on American culture, bringing African-American faces and voices into the mainstream through music legends including Diana Ross, Stevie Wonder, and Smokey Robinson.

  5. Beautiful Ballpark in "Charm City"published at 10:53 British Summer Time 20 September

    BBC Sport

When you think of Baltimore you might think of the TV series The Wire, but the city is also famous for having one of Major League Baseball's most iconic stadiums.

Oriole Park at Camden Yards reflects Baltimore's nickname - "Charm City" - with its traditional but modern design that became the blueprint for most baseball stadiums built after it was finished in 1992.

The stadium is located in downtown Baltimore and reflects some of the city's industrial past, incorporating the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad warehouse into the design beyond right field. The warehouse has never been hit by a legal home run during a game, but there's always a big intake of breath when the ball heads towards it.
