GB lose to Greece in EuroBasket qualifier

Great Britain suffered a 77-67 defeat to Greece in the FIBA EuroBasket 2025 qualifiers.

The GB team had staged a comeback to beat the same team in London on Thursday but could not repeat the feat in Pylaia on Sunday.

Greece led 40-32 at half-time and were in front for most of the match, with Panagiotis Kalaitzakis and Kostas Papanikolaou their joint top scorers with 14 points each respectively.

Myles Hesson led the way for GB with 14 points, while team-mate Quin Ellis chipped in with 13.

Greece have moved top of the group on seven points, with second-placed Czech Republic and Great Britain, in third, on six points. Netherlands are fourth on five points with all side having two games remaining.

The top three sides in each group will play in the Euros, which will be hosted by Cyprus, Finland, Latvia and Poland.

The 42nd edition of the tournament will take place between 27 August and 14 September 2025.
