Carl Frampton: Belfast boxer to fight in his home city on 18 November

Carl Frampton's first contest with new promoter Frank Warren is to take place in Belfast on 18 November.

Frampton, 30, announced his link-up with Warren on Sunday and the three-time world champion will face an as yet unconfirmed opponent at the SSE Arena.

Jamie Conlan, also from Belfast, will challenge Jerwin Ancajas of the Philippines for the IBF world super-flyweight belt on the same bill.

Zolani Tete and Paddy Barnes will also be on the undercard of the programme.

South African Tete will defend his WBO world bantamweight title, while Barnes will fight for the WBO European flyweight crown.

Conlan has won all 19 of his professional fights to date, 11 by knockout.

Southpaw Ancajas will be making the third defence of his title, having last fought in July, when he stopped Japan's Teiru Kinoshita on the undercard of Jeff Horn's world title upset over Manny Pacquiao in Brisbane.

"I'm relishing this opportunity to fight on the world stage. I want to push myself and fight the best and this guy is up with the very best in the world," said Conlan.

Frampton split with long-time promoter Barry McGuigan last month, three weeks after the late postponement of his scheduled comeback fight in Belfast.

The bout was called off after his Mexican opponent Andres Gutierrez slipped in his hotel shower.

Frampton said that he believed a promotional deal with Warren was the best means to secure the world title fight at Windsor Park that he craves.

"I'm excited about the future with a new team. I put all the options together and went with the best one, financially and in terms of how they were going to promote me. This was by far the best offer," he told BBC Sport NI on Wednesday.

Frampton won the IBF and WBA versions of the world super-bantamweight title before beating Leo Santa Cruz in July 2016 to clinch the WBA featherweight title.

However, Santa Cruz avenged his defeat last January to regain the featherweight title and Frampton has not fought since then.

The Northern Irishman last week announced that he had signed an 'advisory' deal with MTK Global, a company run by Matthew Macklin, a former European middleweight champion who works as a boxing manager.

Frampton is now trained by ex-British, Commonwealth and European champion Jamie Moore.
