McGregor wins on points to take WBC International title

Lee McGregor captured the vacant WBC International featherweight title after an unanimous points win over England's Isaac Lowe in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
The Edinburgh fighter, who was on the undercard of the Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Uysk's world title rematch, dominated a scrappy encounter in what was his second win since his only career loss last year.
Lowe's chances were hampered by a cut in the fifth round, while the 30-year-old was twice docked points for losing his gumshield in the final two rounds.
A tiring McGregor - who looked weakened by a hand injury in the later rounds - survived a late flurry to take the decision 96-92, 97-91, 97-91.
McGregor, 27, was tipped for big things but has struggled to generate momentum in the last few years of his career having won British, European, and Commonwealth titles early on.
Injuries have slowed his progress, and his bid to capture the IBO super-bantamweight title ended in a loss to Mexican Erik Robles Ayala in front of a home crowd at Meadowbank in July 2023.
