Garner to face Jimenez in Bournemouth fight night

Super-featherweight Ryan Garner will take on unbeaten Spaniard Salvador Jimenez at the Bournemouth International Centre on 1 March.

Garner's promoter Frank Warren teased on X, external that "a major title will be on the line" as the Southampton-based 26-year-old headlines this contest, though did not specify which title.

Jimenez holds a record of 14 wins, no defeats and one draw and was previously the European super-featherweight champion.

Garner, nicknamed 'The Piranha', is unbeaten in 16 fights with eight knockouts, and beat the previously undefeated Archie Sharp in his last outing.

"I'm over the moon to headline my own show," Garner told BBC Sport.

"Frank has stuck by me and now after two big wins this year he's putting on a big show for me, it's massive for me so close to home too.

"I know if I get through this one then there is big things on the horizon for me, we've always spoken about my dream of headlining at [Southampton FC's stadium] St Mary's.

"If I get through this one then there's talks already for me this summer at St Mary's, next year could be huge for my career and my life."
