Reigning Olympic champion Nicola Adams will lead England's challenge in Glasgow as women's boxing make its debut at the Commonwealth Games.

"I'm determined to give myself the best possible chance of making history a second time," said Adams, who won the first ever women's Olympic boxing gold.

Natasha Jonas and Savannah Marshall are the other women in the 11-strong team.

The eight male picks include 2013 World Championship middleweight bronze medallist Antony Fowler.

Charlie Edwards will compete at flyweight and fellow European Championship bronze medallist Joe Joyce will be in action at super-heavyweight.

Bantamweight Qais Ashfaq, lightweight Pat McCormack, light-welterweight Sam Maxwell, welterweight Scott Fitzgerald and heavyweight Warren Baister complete the English line-up at the Games, which take place in Glasgow from 23 July to 3 August.

Marshall is the 2012 women's world middleweight champion while Jonas won lightweight bronze at the 2012 World Championships.

"Ever since it was announced that women's boxing was going to be part of the Commonwealth Games I have been really looking forward to this event," said Adams, who was beaten in the last eight at the European Championships earlier this month.

"The Commonwealths is the only major tournament that I have left to win a medal at."

Caspar Hobbs, chairman of England Boxing, said the men and women selected to fight in Glasgow "should be very proud of their achievement".

"We are fortunate to have a very good crop of talent in English boxing right now," he added.

"I have no doubt that the addition of women's boxing will significantly enhance the competition and make boxing one of the must-see events of the whole Games."
