Guernsey 100m hurdler Kylie Robilliard has broken the Channel Island record as she prepares to race at this month's Commonwealth Games.

The 26-year-old clocked a time of 13.55 seconds to take 0.13 seconds off her own record which she set back in 2008.

Robilliard, who was racing for Shaftesbury and Barnet Harriers at a meeting in Liverpool, moves up to 10th place in the UK rankings.

"This should spring board me in to future better performances," she said.

"I am even more excited that my times are gradually becoming more competitive for the Commonwealth Games," she added to BBC Radio Guernsey.

Robilliard hopes to better the time when she races in a meeting in Italy next weekend as she prepares to represent Guernsey at her second Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.

She just missed out on a place in the 100m hurdles final in Delhi four years ago, finishing 0.11 seconds outside the top eight.
