Durham all-rounder Ben Stokes faces a lay-off off between six to eight weeks after badly dislocating his finger against Lancashire on Tuesday.

The 19-year-old's right index finger was damaged as he tried to take a catch from Lancashire's Paul Horton during their second innings.

X-rays have revealed joint damage, a piece of bone fragmented and will require surgery to be pinned.

Stokes has been in impressive form, recording four hundreds this season.

The England Lions player was also involved in a record stand of 331 with team-mate Dale Benkenstein, ending on a personal best 185.
