Maynard spent three years as Glamorgan's director of cricket

Former Glamorgan coach Matthew Maynard has agreed to take charge of South African side Titans.

The ex-England assistant coach has signed a two-year deal and starts his role on 15 August.

Maynard resigned as Glamorgan coach, external after three years in November and replaces Chris van Noordwyk at the Centurion-based side.

Maynard will be in charge of South African internationals such as AB de Villiers and Morné Morkel.

Van Noordwyk stepped down in April after two years in charge and is replaced by a man who was on Duncan Fletcher's backroom staff when England won the 2005 Ashes.

Maynard quit his job at Glamorgan after Alviro Petersen was appointed captain and Colin Metson came in as managing director of cricket.

Since leaving the county in November 2010, Maynard has been weighing up his options with New Zealand, external at one stage an option.

He has been out of cricket for since turmoil hit Glamorgan during the off-season.

The appointment of Petersen and Metson not only saw Maynard resign, but ex-captain Jamie Dalrymple and president Peter Walker resigned in protest at Glamorgan's dramatic changes in personnel.

And after Christmas Maynard's son, Tom quit the county to join Surrey despite having signed a new three-year Glamorgan contract in October 2010.
