Essex all-rounder Ryan ten Doeschate has been rested by his club and will not play for two weeks.

The one-day specialist has struggled in FL t20 and CB40 since returning from the Indian Premier League.

The Netherlands international, 31, has yet to get off the mark in two CB40 innings and has averaged 16 across 14 T20 knocks this term.

"Tendo is going to have a break for a couple of weeks," head coach Paul Grayson confirmed on the club website, external.

Essex limped to back-to-back CB40 defeats with Sunday's nine-wicket loss to Somerset.

"Our one-day form of late has been shambolic, the simple fact is that we've just not had enough players performing, especially the batsmen and it's very frustrating," added Grayson.

"But our Championship cricket has been different recently, we've turned around our form in that competition a little bit and with five games to go, we'll be trying to win every single match we play throughout the rest of the season."

Grayson will also be without batsman Matt Walker through injury for the County Championship clash with Glamorgan, which starts on Tuesday.

"Walks has been suffering with a viral infection that has kept him out of action for a while and so he'll be playing in a second-team game this week," he said.
