Nottinghamshire have signed Hampshire and England opening batsman Michael Lumb on a three-year contract for the start of next season.
Director of cricket Mick Newell first revealed Notts' interest in the 31-year-old in July, external.
And Newell was thrilled to strengthen their problematic opening department, external.
Newell said: "We have been in the market for a proven batsman and believe he has the pedigree and drive to improve our standing in all formats."
Left-hander Lumb, who has a first-class average of 34.51, has been ruled out for the remainder of the domestic season through injury.
He will join Nottinghamshire following stints with Sydney Sixers in the Big Bash League and Deccan Chargers in the Indian Premier League.
Newell added: "We're delighted that Michael has agreed to join us and the meetings that we've had with him have been very constructive in terms of our respective ambitions and the role he sees himself playing in fulfilling them."
Lumb said: "I've enjoyed five great seasons with Hampshire and it has been a real pleasure to have won two limited-overs trophies.
"However, I feel that now is the right time to make a fresh start at a new club and I'm pleased to be offered the opportunity to play for Nottinghamshire. It's a challenge and one I'm looking forward to."
The South African-born batsman has made seven Twenty20 appearances for England, helping them to ICC World Twenty20 victory in the West Indies earlier this year.
