Guernsey beat Kuwait by 12 runs in World Cricket League

Jamie Nussbaumer's five wickets helped Guernsey to victory over Kuwait

Guernsey are still on course for promotion from the ICC's World Cricket League Division Six after a 12-run win over Kuwait in Malaysia.

Batting first Jeremy Frith continued his fine form with the bat hitting 82, as Guernsey were bowled out for 212 with three balls to go.

In reply Jamie Nussbaumer took five wickets for 35 runs as Guernsey bowled the Kuwaitis out for 200.

Guernsey keep their perfect record of three wins from three matches.

"We played fantastically well," Guernsey coach Dave Cornford told BBC Guernsey.

"Kuwait we're a really good side, we've never played them before, but they were a really dangerous side."

And Cornford was full of praise for his bowlers, who restricted their opponents to just eight runs off the opening eight overs.

"Jamie Nussbaumer getting five wickets on that sort of surface was a really good effort.

"Our opening attack of Jamie Nussbaumer and Lee Savident probably bowled as well as I've ever seen them bowl a ball," Cornford said.

Guernsey will face bottom side Nigeria on Wednesday knowing a win will secure them promotion to World Cricket League Division Five.

"It's a nice position for us to be in.

"A result there will guarantee that we're promoted which will be fantastic for this group of players who have put in so much," he concluded.
