Seamer Tim Linley has signed a new two-year contract with Surrey.

The 29-year-old took 73 first-class wickets as Surrey won promotion to Division One of the County Championship this summer.

Linley told BBC London 94.9:, external "We had such a fantastic season as a side, getting promotion and winning the CB40.

"I was really happy with my contribution, especially to the County Championship performance, that this is just the icing on the cake."

He added: "This means I can set my targets for next year and look a bit further ahead to the following year as well.

"Surrey have given me such a great opportunity and I would like to think I am repaying the faith they have shown in me.

"I feel I still have a debt to repay and I am really focusing on putting in another two years of good performances for Surrey at least."

Linley said he was relishing the prospect of testing himself in Division One next summer.

"We have a massive challenge ahead of us," he said. "We have proved ourselves at Division Two standard, but we have not proved ourselves in terms of the highest first-class standard you can play.

"We have to find ways to make sure we are not just competitive but winning games next year, and that's a challenge we're looking forward to."
