Stewart Walters signs Glamorgan extension

Stewart Walters impressed at Glamorgan in his debut season of 2011

Batsman Stewart Walters will remain at Glamorgan until the end of the 2013 season after signing a one-year contract extension.

The Australian right-hander, formerly of Surrey, joined in February 2011 on a two-year deal.

Walters said: "Glamorgan reignited my career last year and it's a great honour to have signed on until at least the end of 2013.

"Last summer... I rediscovered the love of playing cricket."

Walters scored a defiant century in Glamorgan's second innings of their LV=County Championship match against Northamptonshire at Swansea, which helped his new side avoid defeat.

Against Kent at Canterbury as their season ended, the 28-year-old scored 147 to lay the foundation of an eight-wicket victory

He also hit a record-breaking 50 off 19 balls in the Clydesdale Bank 40 match against Lancashire at Colwyn Bay.

He added: "Glamorgan cricket is a great club and a place that allows cricketers to express there talents.

"As a club, we are heading in the right direction and under the leadership of club captain Mark Wallace and vice-captain Jim Allenby I expect us to grow into a force within all forms of the game."
