Pakistan have not lost a Test series since Misbah was appointed captain

Pakistan captain Misbah-ul-Haq believes the struggles of 2010 inspired his side to their 10-wicket win over England in the first Test in Dubai.

Pakistan were beaten 3-1 in England two years ago, a series overshadowed by the spot-fixing scandal.

"After that, everyone wanted to prove to the world they are good cricketers," said Misbah, whose side are 1-0 up in the three-match series.

"The way they have responded, I think it's wonderful."

England are playing overseas for the first time since climbing to the top of the International Cricket Council's world Test rankings, but were put under immediate pressure by the hosts, slumping to 43-5 at lunch on the first day.

Off-spinner Saeed Ajmal took 7-55 as England were bundled out for 192 and, after Pakistan made 338, the tourists collapsed to 160 all out in their second innings, with Umar Gul picking up 4-63 and man-of-the-match Ajmal 3-42.

"We did not expect that it would be so easy for us," added Misbah, 37. "It was a wonderful performance by the team, especially Saeed Ajmal, he put us on the way to victory.

"Umar Gul has been a matchwinner for a long time, whenever we need him he bowls his heart out."

However, despite the one-sided nature of his side's victory, Misbah is expecting a fightback from England in the second Test in Abu Dhabi.

"We know they are the number one team in the world, even in the pressure situations in this match they bowled well," added the Pakistan skipper.

"They could come back at any time and we are aware of that. We have to be disciplined, that's the key for our team."
