Redfern hits ton as Derbyshire battle against Northants

Dan Redfern struck his maiden first-class century as Derbyshire were bowled out for 286 by Northants on the opening day of the new county season.

Derbyshire were struggling on 50-4 after being put in at Derby as Jack Brooks (5-61) made early inroads.

But Redfern (110) added 160 for the sixth wicket with Ross Whitely (83) as the hosts battled back.

Tim Groenewald then struck twice to make it Derbyshire's day as Northants reached the close on 28-3.
