Hampshire all-rounder Sean Ervine described County Championship victory over Glamorgan on Sunday as an "awesome feeling".

Hants recorded a two-wicket victory, their first of the new season, with Hamza Riazuddin hitting the winning runs from the penultimate ball.

"Victory is an awesome feeling," Ervine told BBC Radio Solent.

"It's been a long time coming because for the past three or four years we haven't started the season very well."

Ervine himself contributed 75 off 92 balls before Riazuddin secured victory.

The Zimbabwean born all-rounder was dismissed 13 balls from the end but Riazuddin and Danny Briggs knocked off the remaining 14 runs off 13 balls.

"It was an incredible game of cricket," admitted the 29-year-old.

"I didn't watch the last over, but overall we felt we deserved to win."

And Ervine added that Riazuddin, who ended with bowling figures of 5-61 from Glamorgan's second innings, deserved to seal victory for Hampshire.

"He deserved to hit the winning run for the way he bowled," he added.

"We played normal positive cricket and were happy to get over then line."
