Close of play, day one: Hampshire 50-3 v Kent

Kent 1pt, Hampshire 0pts

Kent had the edge in the 15.1 overs possible on a badly rain-affected first day of their County Championship clash against Hampshire at Tunbridge Wells.

After waiting for most of the day, they made a late start after tea, in which time Hampshire slumped to 37-3.

Charlie Shreck had Michael Carberry caught behind before fellow paceman Mark Davies earned two LBW decisions.

Simon Katich shored things up with an unbeaten 21 as Hampshire advanced to 50-3 before the premature close.
