Kyle Coetzer knock for Northants in vain due to rain

Kyle Coetzer scored 41 before rain forced the abandonment of Northants against the Welsh Dragons.

The hosts lost Rob Newton for two to James Harris in the first over, before Coetzer and Niall O'Brien (12) added 60 in 41 balls.

But Coetzer was bowled by Dean Cosker and eight balls later O'Brien was caught behind by wicketkeeper Mark Wallace off Jim Allenby.

The rain arrived with Northants 70-3 in the 10th over.

It had been drizzling for most of the innings but only then did the rain get heavier.

New signing Australia international Cameron White had just made a single on his debut at the time play was suspended with Alex Wakely unbeaten on five.

Play was abandoned at 20:50 BST with both sides taking a point each.
