Jim Troughton and Chris Woakes scored hundreds to take Warwickshire close to maximum batting bonus points against Somerset at Taunton.

After Varun Chopra (93) helped give the visitors a solid platform, they slipped from 135-2 to 162-6 with Alfonso Thomas taking 3-54.

But Troughton (132 not out) and Woakes (107) then shared a seventh-wicket partnership of 204.

Warwickshire closed on 387-7, only 13 runs shy of their fifth batting point.

Somerset were left to rue missed chances as Peter Trego dropped Troughton on 12 in the slips off Craig Meschede.

Troughton and Woakes went on to bat for 50 overs and hit 32 boundaries between them

Woakes finally fell in the closing overs, chipping a catch to midwicket off the left-arm spin of Arul Suppiah.
