Division Two backmarkers Leicestershire enjoyed one of their best days of the summer as they piled up 334-8 against promotion-chasing Hampshire.

At 43-3 early on at Grace Road, they were in trouble, but turned it round.

Young Josh Cobb (81) began the fightback in a fourth-wicket stand of 75 with Ramnaresh Sarwan (36).

But highly-rated teenager Shiv Thakor hit an unbeaten 71, well supported by Wayne White (53), with whom he put on a century stand, and Matt Boyce (32).

Opening bowler James Tomlinson was Hampshire's best performer, taking 3-59.
