Cornwall take on Buckinghamshire in Minor Counties final

Cornwall will have home advantage when they take on Buckinghamshire in the Minor Counties Championship final.

The reward for winning the first Western Division title in their history is to entertain Bucks at Truro CC, for the four-day final, starting on Sunday.

"At the time, the Western Division felt like the big thing," Cornwall skipper Tom Sharp told BBC Sport.

"But no-one will remember who won that title in 20 years' time, but they will remember who wins the whole thing."

Sharp, who took over the captaincy in 2002, is particularly impressed with the current crop of players.

"Sam Hockin has had a really good year with the ball and Jake Libby has been amazing with the bat. He has far exceeded our expectations this summer," he added.

The only team changes from the title-winning game in Wales, see David Roberts and Tom Hughes replacing the injured Dan Davis and Ben Smeeth.

Cornwall manager Godfrey Furse thinks the side's positive approach during a rain-affected summer has paid off.

"We've been so close to winning our division in recent years, but we've missed out because of the weather," Furse told BBC Sport.

"So this year we decided, if rain was a factor, we would go flat out for wins and it's worked for us.

"We go into the game with confidence after a good summer, but we're two evenly matched sides.

"When teams are so even, it's the small things that decide the result. If we perform to our best, we have a very good chance."

The visitors boast former England one-day international Mal Loye in their ranks.
