Devon lose season opener to Oxfordshire by one wicket

Devon's cricketers began their season with a one-wicket defeat against Oxfordshire in the MCCA Trophy.

The home side we bowled out for 167 with an over to spare as James Burke top-scored with 42, while David Lye hit 37 as Richard Kaufman got three for 15.

In reply, Devon reduced the visitors to 72-6 at one point as Trevor Anning took four wickets for 14 for Devon.

But a seventh wicket stand of 60 from Damian Shirazi and Chad Keegan got them back into it as Shirazi hit 74 not out.

Devon will hope to get back to winning ways when they host Hertfordshire on Monday 6 May.
