Leicestershire v Kent: Rob Key hits century in Grace Road draw

Former Kent skipper Rob Key helped himself to his first Championship century of the summer as they played out a draw against Leicestershire.

Key made an unbeaten 104 at Grace Road and is now only three away from the milestone of 50 first-class hundreds.

Leicestershire were bowled out for 495 during the morning, with 19-year-old Shiv Thakor finally dismissed for 114.

Key and Brendan Nash (62) then took the chance for batting practice in a stand of 124 before Kent declared on 213-2.

Play was halted at the end of an over in which Key had gone to three figures with a drive for four off Michael Thornely, the 11th boundary of his near four-hour innings.

Former England seamer Matthew Hoggard was unable to bowl because of the hip injury which forced him off the field after five overs in Kent's first innings and he is to have a scan next week.

Hoggard did, however, make a brief appearance as a batsman during the morning after Leicestershire resumed on 452-7, but was the last to go, caught by Key off Charlie Shreck (2-105).
