Close, day one: Worcestershire v Essex - abandoned |
The opening day of Worcestershire's Division Two clash with Essex was abandoned because of rain.
Light rain set in at New Road during the morning and heavier showers were expected throughout the afternoon.
At 14:00 BST umpires Jeremy Lloyds and Graham Lloyd decided that play would not be possible.
Worcestershire are fourth in the table, following back-to-back victories against Kent and Gloucestershire, while Essex are third.
