Yorkshire Bank 40, Taunton:

Somerset 246-7 (38.2 overs) beat Glamorgan 245-9 (40 overs) by three wickets

Somerset beat Glamorgan by three wickets in their Yorkshire Bank 40 clash at Taunton on Sunday.

The visitors set a target of 245-9 with Ben Wright hitting 75 not out, Marcus North scoring 46 and Dean Cosker 37.

Peter Trego (72) and Dean Elgar (51) led the hosts' response, while Craig Meschede hit 24 off a Simon Jones over.

The eighth-wicket partnership between Meschede (40 not out) and Max Waller (25 no) guided Somerset home as they reached 246-7 with 10 balls to spare.

Defeat left Glamorgan in fifth place in Group C, while Somerset ended the day second behind Gloucestershire.

In the process the West Country side bounced back from their first defeat of the season against Leicestershire to record a fifth win from six games.

Glamorgan, with bowler Michael Hogan back in to the squad in place of Mike Reed, had hoped to repeat their earlier successes against Yorkshire and Middlesex.
