Hampshire have completed the signing of Pakistan's Sohail Tanvir to play all formats of the game for the club.

The left-arm paceman, 28, has been granted a visa and will arrive at the Ageas Bowl on Thursday.

He will stay until the end of the team's involvement in the FL t20 campaign, with compatriot Saeed Ajmal set to arrive in August.

"His all-round talents are a welcome addition ahead of an important phase of the season," said manager Giles White.

Tanvir has appeared in two Tests for Pakistan, but is primarily known as a limited-overs player, having appeared in 50 one-day and 28 T20 internationals.

He takes over from batsman George Bailey, who has joined Australia for the Champions Trophy.

A Hampshire spokesman confirmed that although Ajmal had a contract with the club, Tanvir could stay for the rest of the season if the former is selected for Pakistan's tour to Zimbabwe, which is scheduled for mid-August.

"At the moment that is all up in the air, but if the tour does not go ahead then he will just take over from Tanvir," agent Umran Khan said last month.
