Somerset 175-5 (20 overs) beat Warwickshire 165-3 (20 overs) by 10 runs

Somerset completed an enthralling 10-run win over Warwickshire at Edgbaston to reach the FLt20 quarter-finals.

Both sides knew a win would send them through to the last eight, and opener Craig Kieswetter scored 76 off 53 balls as the visitors totalled 175-5.

Somerset looked in control when the Bears slipped to 65-3 after nine overs.

Darren Maddy (67 no) and Laurie Evans (51 no) then shared 100 for the fourth wicket to put them back in contention, but Somerset held on to win.

Warwickshire had needed 22 off the final 12 balls, but excellent bowling from Alfonso Thomas and Yasir Arafat saw the boundaries dry up and limited the batsmen to just 11.

The win means Somerset have made it through to the knockout stage for the fifth consecutive year, while Warwickshire have failed to make the quarter-finals in each of the last three campaigns.

Kieswetter proud of Somerset effort

"We did it by the skin of our teeth but we're through to the quarter finals and that's all that matters.

"To win a game like this under pressure was a great achievement and puts us in good stead.

"I thought Compo [Nick Compton] played a fantastic knock - it really gave us a great push towards the end.

"It was really encouraging to see him score runs and come in with that sort of character."
