Close, day two: Leicestershire 127-7 v Lancashire 380

Leics 2pts, Lancs 6pts

Division Two leaders Lancashire left Leicestershire still needing 104 runs to avoid the follow-on with just three first-innings wickets remaining after dominating day two at Grace Road.

The visitors, with Luke Procter and Gareth Cross starring, added 77 runs to their overnight total to reach 380.

Their bowlers set about the home reply with Kyle Hogg, Simon Kerrigan and Glen Chapple all taking two wickets.

Leicestershire rallied slightly from 46-4 to reach 127-7 at the close.

The hosts still look in deep trouble but showed some resistance through Shiv Thakor (34) and Niall O'Brien (41).

BBC Radio Lancashire's Scott Read:

"Lancashire have again shown their promotion credentials in impressive style as they continue to dominate against the division's bottom side.

"In a season where individual performances have made the headlines whether it's Kerrigan, Hogg or Chapple, today was arguably Lancashire's finest bowling display this campaign as a unit.

"They offered nothing to the batters and built pressure from both ends. A win inside three days is still a possibility."
