Northamptonshire veteran David Sales has said he may leave Wantage Road this summer after 19 years at the club.

The 35-year-old batsman, who is out of contract this winter, hit 255 not out against Gloucestershire at the weekend, his 240th first-class match.

"What will be, will be. I've had 19 good years and it may be time for the next chapter in my career," he told BBC Radio Northampton.

"We'll have to wait and see if anything gets offered."

Sales, who has played all of his first-class cricket with Northants, made his County Championship debut in 1996, scoring 0 and 210 against Worcestershire.

He has since amassed 13,389 first-class runs and helped his side to 567-4 declared on Sunday, with thee match finishing in a draw on Monday.

But Sales remains unsure if this will be his final season at the Northampton club.

"That will take care of itself, that's if I continue playing," he said. "But it's nice to go out and score with no pressure on me really."
