Close, day one: Lancashire 92-0 v Leicestershire |
Lancashire openers Paul Horton and Luis Reece helped their side reach 92-0 against Leicestershire before rain halted play on day one at Old Trafford.
Horton (42 not out) and Reece (31 not out) gave the hosts a solid start before bad weather set in with the match only 21 overs old.
If Lancashire win and collect 18 points from the match, the 2011 champions will confirm promotion back to Division One.
Simon Katich is playing in his last game before returning to Australia.
Lancashire are without their skipper, veteran seam bowler Glen Chapple, who is missing with a hamstring injury, allowing Horton to captain the team.
The 18 points Lancashire need to secure promotion is on the assumption Essex get maximum points in all their last three matches.
