It means Leicestershire bowler Matthew Hoggard will have to wait for his final outing in professional cricket, after announcing his retirement last week.
Going into their final Championship game of the season, the hosts are still searching for their first victory.
Hampshire included Ruel Brathwaite in their squad, after he missed last week's draw with Worcestershire.
