World Cricket League: Gough insists Jersey can deal with heat

Jersey captain Peter Gough has insisted the Malaysian heat will not hinder their ICC World Cricket League Division Five hopes, ahead of Thursday's opener.

Temperatures in Kuala Lumpur, where the tournament is being hosted, are forecast to peak at 37C, with typically high humidity next week.

The Channel Islanders, who open their campaign against Nigeria, have won both their warm-up matches this week.

"We had a whole week to get used to the weather and the heat," Gough said.

"I don't think the weather will affect us. It was tough on the first day off the plane, but now we're used to it.

"We're going to think about the first game against Nigeria and we want to win it."

Jersey are aiming for back-to-back promotions after moving up from Division Six as champions last year.

They will face Channel Islands rivals Guernsey, hosts Malaysia, the Cayman Islands and Tanzania during the week-long event.
