LV= County Championship Division Two, Tunbridge Wells

Close, day two: Kent 258, Worcestershire 48-0

Worcestershire 3 pts, Kent 2 pts

Worcestershire's hopes of overtaking Division Two leaders Hampshire by beating Kent were dented after only 14.1 overs were bowled on day two.

The visitors' pursuit of Kent's first-innings total of 258 looked untroubled, but only an hour's play was possible.

Opening pair Daryl Mitchell (24 no) and Matt Pardoe (20 no) remained unparted on 48-0 before the rain intervened.

The visitors are aiming for a fourth Championship win of 2014, while Kent have so far won once in five games.
