Jonty Jenner hit 55 off 54 balls against Oman

Jersey suffered their second defeat in as many days at World Cricket League Four in Singapore, losing by seven wickets to Oman.

Teenager Jonty Jenner's half-century was the highlight for the island side as they staggered to 185 all out.

In reply, openers Zeeshan Siddiqui and Zeeshan Maqsood set the tone by smashing 35 from the first five overs.

Although that run rate fell slightly, Oman still eased home with 16.1 overs to spare.

As in Saturday's loss to Malaysia, Jersey skipper Peter Gough had again won the toss and chose to bat first.

In muggy conditions after an early morning downpour, opener Nat Watkins went for a duck before Gough (27) and all-rounder Ben Stevens (37) put on 61 for the second wicket.

Again though it was a stuttering innings from the Channel Islanders, with only five batsmen making it into double figures, while in contrast Jenner's 55 came off 54 balls.

Fast bowler Corne Bodenstein scored 26 not out lower down the order before Charles Perchard was the last man out off the penultimate ball of the allotted 50 overs.

Oman were straight onto the attack in their innings but Maqsood's quick-fire 29 was brought to an abrupt end when he was caught behind by Ed Farley off the bowling of Anthony Kay.

Vaibhav Wategaonkar only lasted 12 balls before being superbly caught by Jenner at full stretch, but Oman were in no mood to let the game slip away.

A third-wicket partnership of 125 between Siddiqui (87 not out) and Arif Hussain (61) ensured their side got their first win of the tournament.

Jersey will now find it an uphill battle to clinch a third successive promotion but other results on Sunday mean they still have a very real chance of at least staying in the division.

Only Malaysia have a 100% record after two days, while Italy, Denmark, Oman and hosts Singapore have all won once.
