Andrew Flintoff missed out with a suspected calf injury as Lancashire surpassed their record Old Trafford T20 score in a 35-run win over Derbyshire.

Ashwell Prince (56), Karl Brown (58), Jos Buttler (39) and Paul Horton, who hit 24 off seven balls, took the hosts to 225-7, as Mark Turner claimed 3-51.

Wes Durston (30), Marcus North (42) and Wayne Madsen (45) did their best to muster a serious Derbyshire run chase.

But Lancashire took regular wickets to ease home, led by Junaid Khan's 2-30.

Lancashire's victory was their ninth from 13 T20 Blast matches this season and guarantees them a home quarter-final.

It was built on a masterly knock from Prince, who became the third Lancashire batsman this season to score a fifty off a county-record 22 balls when he smashed Durston for a fourth six.

Derbyshire, meanwhile, remain anchored to the bottom of the North Group table having won just one match in the format all summer.

Lancashire batsman Karl Brown:

"It's massive for us to get a home quarter-final. The way we're performing at Old Trafford at the moment makes it a big advantage for us.

"There's a lot of confidence running through the squad and whoever's bowling or batting just backs their ability. That shows in the performances.

"Batting first has worked in our favour, but we've also bowled really well on some very good wickets."
