Warwickshire 240-7 (50 overs) beat Middlesex 236-8 (50 overs) by four runs

Warwickshire opened their One-Day Cup campaign with a narrow four-run win over Middlesex at Lord's.

England batsman Jonathan Trott, who continued his recovery from a stress-related illness with a County Championship century in midweek, top scored with 78 in the Bears' 240-7.

Australian opener Chris Rogers hit 96 to keep Middlesex in the hunt.

But with 11 needed off the final over, Oliver Hannon-Dalby held his nerve as the hosts fell short on 236-8.

It was Middlesex's second defeat in as many days after they lost their opening game of the competition at Glamorgan on Saturday.
