Kent 299 (49.5 overs) beat Sussex 183 (31.3 overs) by 59 runs (D/L)

Sam Billings continued his fine One-Day Cup form to help Kent into the quarter-finals as they beat Sussex by 59 runs at Canterbury.

After Daniel Bell-Drummond made 83, Billings' unbeaten 51 off 39 balls took Kent to 299 before the rain arrived.

Sussex never threatened a Duckworth/Lewis-revised target of 243 from 35 overs, despite Ed Joyce's 47.

James Tredwell claimed 4-27 as Sussex collapsed to 183 all out, losing their last seven wickets for 57 runs.

Billings said: "The great thing is we won tonight, yet we might have been better in all facets of the game.

"We've got that improvement to come so, although we're a young team, we feel we can take on anyone right now."

Earlier, Sussex spinner Yasir Arafat took 4-49 and ran out number 11 Doug Bollinger.

But a combination of rain and Billings' late onslaught put Sussex up against it.

Their hopes faded after fast-scoring openers Luke Wright (21) and Chris Nash (24) failed to provide a strong start.

England one-day off-spinner Tredwell then bowled a fabulous seven-over spell to put his side into the last eight.
