Andrew White will miss the remainder of Ireland's acclimatisation tour of Australia and New Zealand after suffering a fractured finger.

The 34-year-old, Ireland's most capped player, sustained the injury during the defeat by Queensland Bulls on Tuesday.

White underwent an operation on Wednesday morning to repair the damage and will return to Ireland to begin the recuperation process.

He injured the finger while taking a return catch from centurion Joe Burns.

Phil Simmons's side have a chance to exact revenge on the Queensland Bulls after their 230-run loss in their tour opener when the teams meet again on Thursday.

The Irish will hope that the availability of skipper William Porterfield and other English county players Niall O'Brien and Gary Wilson will help ensure a better performance in Brisbane.
