Nick Ferraby: Ex-Leicestershire player eyes Jersey spot

Former Leicestershire cricketer Nick Ferraby would like to play for Jersey.

The 31-year-old all-rounder, who has also played Minor Counties cricket for Buckinghamshire and Cambridgeshire, has recently moved to the island.

"I have met with a few people connected with Jersey cricket and I'll be meeting them over the next week or so, just to discuss how I can help and be involved," he told BBC Radio Jersey.

When asked if he would like to play for Jersey he said: "I'd love to."

Ferraby, who played a handful of one-day games for Leicestershire, added: "I knew before I came that Jersey cricket is big here.

"The guys take it seriously, which is great. There's some good cricketers here and I look forward to getting involved in meeting the guys and seeing how they progress over the next year or so."

Jersey are associate members of the International Cricket Council and play in World Cricket League Division Five.

While Ferraby would be eligible to play in the island's league this summer, he would not be able to play for Jersey at international level until at least the second half of 2018.

Under ICC eligibility rules, Ferraby would have to have lived in Jersey for a minimum of 183 days in each of the next four years.

He would also have to play in at least 50% of the Weekend League fixtures for the club he joins.

"The more good cricketers that are playing local will help everybody," Jersey cricket's chief executive Chris Minty told BBC Sport.

"He is definitely a welcome addition to Jersey cricket."
