Glamorgan double centurion Graham Wagg has revealed that his career-best innings against Surrey came on the orders of his six-year-old son.

The all-rounder hit a club record 11 sixes in a Championship innings.

His 200 also equalled the highest score by any number eight batsman, matching Dominic Cork's previous best.

"It was quite unreal, my little boy Brayden said before the match 'Daddy get four wickets and score two hundred' and we laughed at him," Wagg said.

"But talking to my wife, I think we'll do the lottery now!"

Surrey start the final day on 276-8 in their second innings, 245 runs ahead of Glamorgan.

Wagg's last-wicket stand of 105 with Michael Hogan had given the Welsh county a lead of 31.

"I just knocked it down to fine leg on 198 and we ran two, and the emotions were running so high it's hard to explain," Wagg told BBC Radio Wales.

"But I'd like to mention Michael Hogan, who ran in all day and bowled phenomenally to pick up five wickets."

Hogan described Wagg's innings as "unbelievable hitting, it was great fun to be at the other end", before claiming his second five-wicket haul of the season.

"We kept whacking away with the ball and eventually got the rewards [with late wickets]," Hogan said.

"I'm glad as a group we got the rewards, personally it was good for me but we put a decent shift in as a team."

But he knows Glamorgan will have to start better with the bat in any victory chase than in the first innings, when they slumped to 106-6.

"If we bowl them out in the morning then surviving the new ball is going to be key, because they've got some good bowlers there and we'll have to be on our game," Hogan added.

"Surrey are a really good side and they're short on cattle at the moment with a few injuries, but you can only play the players in front of you.

"They're a quality side and we're making steps to being that sort of side so it'll be an interesting last day."

Wagg though is in more bullish mood: "We're being really positive and fortunately it's gone our way.

"We've come here with a good mindset on the back of a couple of good wins and I think the positive brand of cricket we've played this year has been exceptional."

Glamorgan will take seven bonus points from the game and Surrey six, with the unbeaten records of both sides up for dispute on the final day.
