Andrew Gale's 164 and three wickets for Steven Patterson put Yorkshire in full control against Worcestershire.

The visitors ended day two on 195-6, with rain and bad light in Scarborough severely affecting the evening session.

Gale, 127 not out overnight, helped Yorkshire to maximum batting points, although the hosts lost their last five wickets for 62 runs to end 430 all out.

Patterson took 3-34, including captain Daryl Mitchell lbw for 14, as Worcestershire struggled in reply.

Only Tom Fell (30) and Joe Clarke, who will resume on the third morning on 76 not out, offered any meaningful resistance on a disrupted day.

Yorkshire captain Gale was the last wicket to fall in his side's first innings, having shared a fourth-wicket stand of 254 with England hopeful Jonny Bairstow on the first day.

Joe Leach, who ended with 4-139, forced Tim Bresnan to edge to Ross Whiteley at slip for 28 before Charlie Morris (3-90) accounted for Liam Plunkett, Patterson and Jack Brooks.

Worcestershire survived a tricky five-over spell of batting before lunch, but then lost five wickets in the afternoon, the first being Richard Oliver to Plunkett's excellent slip catch.

Mitchell fell to the first ball after a short rain delay and Patterson later dismissed Brett D'Oliveira and Whiteley, but the Division One leaders were held up by the weather before tea.

After a delay of about 90 minutes, the players returned to the field at 17:55 BST for 15 more overs - enough time for Brooks to take the wicket of Ben Cox, caught at mid-wicket by Adil Rashid.
